Mother’s Determination
Yang Yang’s mother said, “I took Yang Yang to kindergarten when he was almost 3. It is the first time and really took me great courage! After I explained Yang Yang’s condition to the principal, she turned down our application. I can still remember her reaction at that time.” Fortunately, the kind chairman of the kindergarten allowed Yang Yang to have some trial classes. Yang Yang’s mother left him at the school after explaining his condition to the school teachers. “I can hear his crying on my way home. I really felt suffering”, said the mother. To express gratitude to teachers and Yang Yang’s classmates, the mother bought fruits, candies and biscuits to them. But Yang Yang was still persuaded to leave the kindergarten after 18 days’ of trail. Yang Yang’s mother held him in arms and left the school with tears.
Misfortunes never come singly. In order to afford Yang Yang’s expensive rehabilitation cost, Yang Yang’s father worked day and night, which finally resulted in serious disease. Yang Yang’s father passed away when he was only 3 years old. His rehabilitation training had to stop immediately. His father’s family kicked Yang Yang and his mother out. While the mother’s family could do nothing for them either. Yang Yang’s mother said, “I really felt desperate at that time.” The young mother had to do some part time jobs while continuously looking for kindergartens. She said, “Yang Yang had changed 5 kindergartens between 3-6 years old, and the longest stay was only one month. Each time he was persuaded to quite.” It was when World Vision heard about Yang Yang’s situation and began to subsidize part of Yang Yang’s living expense and tuition.
